How to Delete a Repost on TikTok (iPhone and Android)

Open the TikTok app and go to the video you reposted. Tap the Share button, then tap Remove repost. TikTok's current Help Center also lists two alternatives: press and hold the video and choose Remove repost, or tap your own profile photo on the video, tap Reposted, and then choose Remove repost. The wording and position can vary slightly by app version.

The action removes your repost association; it does not delete the original creator's post. Check that the button now reads Repost rather than Remove repost and that your repost label is no longer shown. If the interface does not update immediately, close the share sheet, reopen the video, and check again before repeating the action many times.

People often say delete a repost, but TikTok calls the control Remove repost. Searching for that wording in the app's Help Center produces more accurate instructions. The basic flow applies across supported iPhone and Android versions, although icons and menu placement can differ during rollouts.

TikTok's current official instructions say reposted content can be found on your profile under the Repost tab. Open Profile and look for the icon made of two arrows. Select the video, open its Share menu, and choose Remove repost. This corrects older advice claiming that TikTok never provides a repost list.

The tab's visibility and audience can depend on account privacy, region, app version, and feature rollout. TikTok says that on a private account, followers can see reposted content on the profile and in their For You feeds. Do not assume a missing public tab means that no repost exists; check from the signed-in account and use the other finding methods below.

If the Repost tab is missing or the list is long, open Profile, tap the menu, choose Settings and privacy, then Activity center and Watch history. Menu names can vary, so use the settings search if available. Find the original video, open it, and use Share or the press-and-hold menu to remove the repost.

Watch history is a finding aid, not a perfect archive. TikTok can change how long entries remain available, and a video may be absent if it was removed, made unavailable, or viewed from another account. Check Liked videos, Favorites, direct-message history, browser history, or a copied link if you also saved or shared the post at the time.

Confirm that you are signed into the same TikTok account that made the repost. Multiple accounts on one device are a common source of confusion: the video can show Repost on one account and Remove repost on another because only the second account created the recommendation.

A repost recommends someone else's video to your friends or community in their For You feeds and labels it with your profile photo and nickname. Removing it tells TikTok that your account is no longer reposting that video and removes the active repost state from the controls available to you.

Removal is forward-looking. It cannot make another person forget a video already seen, withdraw a screenshot, or erase a conversation that happened because of it. TikTok does not publish a guarantee that every cached surface updates at the same instant, so allow normal synchronisation time and verify from the app rather than promising immediate disappearance everywhere.

The creator's original views, likes, comments, saves, and post remain under the creator's control. Your removal does not subtract historical interactions already recorded. If the original post itself violates a rule or exposes personal information, use the appropriate report or privacy route in addition to removing your repost.

TikTok's public repost-removal instructions do not promise a notification either way. In typical use, the removal is simply reflected in the repost state, but app behavior can change. Do not rely on a blanket guarantee that a particular person cannot notice, especially if they already saw the labelled video, checked your Repost tab, or received a separate message from you.

If the issue is sensitive, remove the repost promptly and review whether you also liked, favorited, commented on, or directly shared the video. Those are separate actions with separate controls. Removing the repost alone does not remove your comment, unlike the video, or delete a message in another person's inbox.

First make sure the video actually shows as reposted by the current account. Open the Share menu and look for Remove repost, press and hold the video, and tap your profile photo label if it appears. If every route still offers Repost instead, the recommendation may already be removed or may have been made from another account.

Update TikTok through the official app store and restart it. Check the network connection and try again later if the interface fails to save other actions. Avoid uninstalling casually when you have drafts stored on the device, because TikTok warns that drafts can be lost when the app is removed or the account moves devices.

For a persistent mismatch, use Settings and privacy and TikTok's Report a problem flow. Include the username, app version, device, video link, screenshot of the repost label, and the missing control. Never give an unofficial helper your password, one-time code, recovery access, or session information to remove a repost.

A creator may delete a video, limit its audience, make the account private, or lose access to the post. TikTok may also remove content. In those cases you may be unable to open the ordinary share sheet, and the unavailable post may disappear from surfaces where it was previously shown.

Check the Repost tab and watch history for an entry that can still be opened, then report a persistent account-level issue through TikTok if necessary. Do not use a cloned website, third-party downloader, or credential-requesting service to recover the control. Those tools cannot authoritatively change the repost state on your TikTok account.

If your concern is legal, safety-related, or about personal information, preserve the video link and relevant screenshots before the content disappears, then use TikTok's reporting tools or obtain qualified advice appropriate to your location. Removing a repost is not the same as submitting a privacy, copyright, or safety report.

A repost recommends the existing video with your name attached and is reversed with Remove repost. A direct share sends a video or link to another destination; removing your repost does not recall that separate message. A Duet or Stitch creates a new post on your account, so it must be managed as your own post rather than through the original video's repost control.

A like, Favorite, comment, Story, and downloaded copy are also separate. Review the icon or surface where your action appears before deleting anything. If you created a new post, save any needed original file before removal and read TikTok's current deleted-post recovery guidance; recovery availability and time limits should be checked in the app rather than assumed.

The Repost control can sit near frequently used share choices and can apply with one tap. Slow down in the share sheet and watch for the confirmation shown after the action. If the tap was accidental, reopen the same menu immediately and choose Remove repost while the video is still easy to find.

TikTok does not document a universal setting that removes the Repost button from every account. Privacy controls may change who can see reposted content, but they are not a substitute for checking the action itself. Review the current privacy menu on your account instead of relying on a screenshot from another region or an older app release.

Return to the video from the same signed-in account and open Share. The option should offer Repost rather than Remove repost. Check the Repost tab as a second confirmation if it is available. One consistent verification is more useful than rapidly toggling the control, which can create uncertainty about the final state.

If privacy matters, remember the limit: verification confirms the current account state, not that nobody previously saw the recommendation. Review any separate comment, direct share, or saved content, then document the result if you reported a technical problem. That is the most complete cleanup available without claiming TikTok can reverse past exposure.

Removing a repost changes the recommendation attached to your account; it does not delete the creator's video or reverse views that already happened. A paid share order is a separate form of engagement and cannot substitute for the app's Remove repost control.

Paid engagement may conflict with TikTok's rules, and no provider can guarantee safe delivery, distribution, retention, or organic results. If the goal is simply to undo your own repost, use TikTok's built-in removal paths and do not give a third party your password or login code.
