Why Does My TikTok Have 0 Views? A Step-by-Step Checklist

Why does my TikTok have 0 views? Work through the likely causes in order: processing, privacy, For You eligibility, violations, age settings, and appeals.

The checklist, from most to least likely

A video stuck at zero is usually a visibility problem rather than a quality problem, so rule out the settings and status issues before you rewrite anything. Work through the list in order. Each check takes a minute or two, and the early ones explain most stuck videos. Menu names can vary by app version and region; where a label differs, use the in-app settings search.

Keep in mind that the view count on the post and the numbers in analytics are separate displays. TikTok says analytics can take one to two days to update, so a zero in analytics on the day you posted is not, by itself, evidence of a problem. Look at the count on the video itself first, and check again the next day.

  • Confirm the upload finished and the post is not under review
  • Check who the post is visible to and whether the account is private
  • Look for a For You feed ineligibility notice in the post's analytics
  • Review violation notices and your account status
  • Check for account-level ineligibility, audience controls, and age settings
  • Rule out duplicate or reused clips, then allow for analytics lag

1. The video is still processing or under review

Start with the basics. Open your profile and confirm the video appears and plays. If the upload was interrupted by a weak connection or by closing the app, the post may never have finished. Check Drafts too, because a video saved there has not been published and cannot collect views. Re-upload over a stable connection if needed, and keep the app open until posting completes.

TikTok also reviews some content. Its help center says a post may be reviewed by its Trust and Safety team when it is uploaded, when it gains popularity, or when it is reported, to decide whether it should be removed or made ineligible for the For You feed. If a violation is found, TikTok says it will notify you and offer an appeal.

2. Privacy settings limit who can see it

Each post has its own audience. TikTok's help pages say a public account can choose Everyone, Friends (followers you follow back), or Only you, while a private account chooses Followers, Friends, or Only you. A post set to Only you will stay at zero because nobody else can watch it. TikTok also says that, depending on age and location, posts may default to Only you.

To change an existing post, TikTok describes this path: Profile, open the post, tap the More options button, then Privacy settings, and choose who can view it. To check the whole account, go to Profile, the Menu button, Settings and privacy, then Privacy, where Private account can be switched on or off. A private account limits viewing to approved followers.

3. The post is not eligible for the For You feed

TikTok's For You feed eligibility standards describe content it does not recommend, such as reused clips without creative edits and certain sensitive themes. An ineligible post will not appear in the For You feed, although TikTok says people may still find it through search or your profile. On a small account with few followers, that can mean very few views or none at all.

To see the decision, analytics must be on: Profile, the Menu button, TikTok Studio, Get started within Analytics, then Turn on. Then open the post, tap More insights or More options and Analytics, and tap the ineligibility notification. TikTok lets you review the reason, give feedback, and tap Appeal if you think the decision is wrong. A successful appeal makes the post eligible again.

4. A violation notice or restriction is in place

If content is removed for breaking the Community Guidelines, TikTok says you will get a notification explaining why and how to appeal. To review notices, TikTok's help center gives this path: Inbox, System notifications, then Account updates. Repeated violations can reduce your account status and lead to temporary restrictions on features such as posting or commenting, or to a permanent ban.

To check overall standing, TikTok describes an Account check in two places: TikTok Studio, then Account check under More tools; or Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, then Account check. A checkmark means no issue, while a warning sign flags one. TikTok says account status, shown as Healthy, Fair, Severe, or Banned, reflects violation history over the last 90 days, and violations expire after that period.

5. The whole account is ineligible for recommendation

According to TikTok's help center, if an account repeatedly posts content unsuitable for the For You feed, the account and its posts will not appear in the For You feed and will be harder to find in search. That can explain a sudden run of near-zero views across several new videos, not just one, especially if earlier posts received ineligibility notices.

When this happens, TikTok says it notifies you in your inbox and on your profile. To appeal, tap the Ineligible for recommendation notice below your username, or open the inbox notification and tap View more, review the listed videos, and tap Appeal. TikTok also says it may automatically restore good standing at any time, depending on how much ineligible content the account has.

6. Audience controls and age settings narrow the audience

Audience controls let creators restrict a video, or the whole account, to viewers aged 18 and older. TikTok says that turning the account-level setting on makes your profile, future videos, and LIVE videos unavailable to people under 18, and you cannot switch it off for individual posts. If most of your audience is younger, views can drop sharply. TikTok adds that adult viewers must be logged in with a registered date of birth to see audience-controlled content.

TikTok also applies age restrictions to some content under its Community Guidelines, making it viewable only by adults, and viewers with Restricted Mode turned on may not see audience-controlled posts at all. Check the setting under Settings and privacy, then Audience controls, and on the post screen under More options before you publish. Teen accounts may also have stricter default post privacy.

7. Duplicates, reposts, and reused clips

Deleting a video and uploading the same file again is a common reaction to low views, but it rarely helps and can create new problems. TikTok's eligibility standards list reused or unoriginal content without creative edits, including clips that show someone else's watermark or logo, as ineligible for the For You feed. Low-quality or minimally edited content, such as short clips made only from GIFs, is also listed.

TikTok also notes that deleting a video that broke a rule does not remove the violation from your account. If you want another attempt at an idea, make a genuinely new edit with a different opening, angle, or explanation. If you reuse someone else's material, add your own commentary and credit, or use Duet and Stitch where the original creator allows them.

8. A new account, or analytics that have not caught up

TikTok does not publish a guaranteed first audience for a new account, so early videos can be slow. Make sure the account is public, the profile is filled in, and the first posts clearly state their topic in the caption and on-screen text, which helps search. Avoid automation, bursts of irrelevant posts, or bought engagement, which TikTok's Community Guidelines list as spam.

On the analytics side, TikTok says data is generated only for videos posted after you turn analytics on, takes about one to two days to update, and is shown in UTC apart from follower activity. A video posted before analytics was enabled may show no data at all. Wait the full two days before concluding that a post is stuck.

What people call a shadowban, in TikTok's own terms

Shadowban is a creator term, not one TikTok uses in its help center or Community Guidelines. What TikTok does describe is narrower and more checkable: individual posts made ineligible for the For You feed, accounts made ineligible for recommendation and harder to find in search, age restrictions, and feature restrictions after violations. Each comes with notices and an appeal route.

So rather than assuming a hidden penalty, check the places TikTok actually tells you about problems: post analytics, Inbox system notifications, the notice below your username, and Account check. TikTok also says a video with few views does not necessarily mean it broke a rule. If every check is clear, the issue is likely the content itself, which you can test and improve.

Fix visibility before you think about view counts

If a video is private, under review, or ineligible for the For You feed, adding views from any outside service will not solve the underlying problem. Resolve the visibility issue first, using the checks above and TikTok's own appeal routes.

Some creators later add a visible starting count to a public, eligible post. That only changes the number shown. TikTok's Community Guidelines treat buying engagement as spam, so it carries policy risk, and no provider can promise reach, retention, or recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my TikTok have 0 views after an hour?
Check that the upload finished and the post appears on your profile, then confirm it is not set to Only you or Friends. If both are fine, look in the post's analytics for an ineligibility notice. A post may also be under review shortly after upload, before it reaches viewers.
Does 0 views on TikTok mean I am shadowbanned?
Not necessarily. TikTok does not use that term. It describes specific restrictions: posts or accounts ineligible for the For You feed, age-restricted content, and feature restrictions after violations. Check post analytics, Inbox system notifications, and Account check, which show those issues and offer appeals.
How do I check my TikTok account status?
TikTok's help center describes two routes: Profile, the Menu button, TikTok Studio, then Account check under More tools; or Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, then Account check. A checkmark means no issue and a warning sign shows a restriction to review.
How long does a TikTok video stay under review?
TikTok does not publish a fixed review time. Its help center says content may be reviewed at upload, when it gains popularity, or when reported. If a violation is found, you will be notified with the reason and an option to appeal, so watch your Inbox notifications.
Should I delete and repost a TikTok with 0 views?
Only after ruling out privacy, review, and eligibility issues, and even then make a real new edit. TikTok lists reused or unoriginal content without creative edits as ineligible for the For You feed, and deleting a violating video does not remove the violation.
Can I appeal if my TikTok is not eligible for the For You feed?
Yes. With analytics turned on, open the post, tap More insights or More options and Analytics, then tap the ineligibility notification and choose Appeal. For an account-level notice, tap the Ineligible for recommendation notice under your username, review the videos, and tap Appeal.
