TikTok Coins and Gifts Explained (Including Galaxy Prices)

TikTok uses several virtual-item labels, and collapsing them into a single exchange rate creates most of the confusion. Coins are digital items an eligible viewer can buy from TikTok and use to activate Gifts or certain other platform features. Gifts are the animated or visual reactions selected in a video or LIVE. TikTok may allocate Diamonds to an eligible creator as a measure of popularity and contribution. A separate rewards process determines whether the creator is eligible for a payment or another benefit.

This is not a direct transfer of cash from one user to another. TikTok's current Virtual Items Policy explicitly says that activating a Gift does not transfer money, Coins or anything of value to the recipient. It also says Diamonds do not automatically entitle a creator to a reward payment. That is why a simple claim such as 'the creator receives half' is not reliable enough for budgeting.

Availability is not determined by one follower number alone. Complete identity and payment verification only inside official TikTok or named payment-provider flows. Make sure the legal name and account details are accurate before requesting a withdrawal. If a payout is pending, use in-app Help and feedback and provide the transaction reference without publishing private documents in comments.

Creator rewards may have tax and reporting consequences, but the rules depend on residence, business structure and local law. TikTok's displayed balance is not personalized tax advice. A Gift is generally consumed when activated, and TikTok's current policies place significant limits on refunds for virtual items.
